As time goes by, it is becoming clear gradually how
serious the damage caused by the earthquake that occurred
around Christchurch, New Zealand is. Christchurch is one
of the cities that we have strong feelings for; much to
our delight, we have been invited to three festivals there
and we went there as well to shoot for our DVD.
Christchurch has nice and friendly people and lovely town
scenery. We didn't believe our eyes when we first saw the
news footage; the spire of the church we held the camera
for during the DVD shooting had collapsed and not only
that, new buildings had also been destroyed. We
immediately tried to contact our friends and colleagues
living there and realized, fortunately, that most of them
were safe and sound as they replied to us soon afterward.
We would like to believe that the rest of them are doing
well too even though we can neither get in touch with them
due to their email addresses having changed nor hear from
them for some reason. It breaks our hearts to think of
families whose loved ones' safety still remains
unconfirmed. We would like to believe they will
definitely be saved. We pray for the victims. We hope the
damage will not spread anymore.
